NADC and the Austrian National Anti-Doping Agency Discuss International Experience in Doping Control
On 8 July, representatives of the National Anti-Doping Center (NADC) and the Austrian National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA Austria) held an online meeting to exchange experience on the organization of doping control during national sporting events and in cases where athletes set national and world records.
During the meeting, the Austrian colleagues presented their approach to cooperation with National Sports Federations. In particular, NADA Austria concludes agreements with federations for the provision of doping sample collection services during national sporting events and the subsequent analysis of samples at laboratories accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Particular attention was given to ensuring mandatory doping control when athletes set national or world records. The Austrian model provides for advance planning of such testing through cooperation between the National Anti-Doping Organization and National Sports Federations, enabling prompt testing in accordance with international requirements.
The participants also discussed the possibility of implementing certain elements of the Austrian model in Ukraine. In particular, they explored the prospect of establishing agreements between NADC and National Sports Federations to ensure systematic doping control at national sporting events, as well as mandatory testing of athletes following the establishment of national and world records.
NADC continues to strengthen international cooperation and study international best practices to further develop Ukraine’s national anti-doping system and promote fair competition in sport.
International cooperation for clean sport.
