Anti-Doping Ombudsman: Supporting Athletes, Benefiting Sports
On October 8, a meeting with renowned Ukrainian athlete Anna Ryzhykova, who has recently been appointed as the Anti-Doping Ombudsman ahead of the Olympic Games in Paris, was held at the National Anti-Doping Center.
During the discussion, the focus was on finding optimal ways to convey accessible information about the approaches of the National Anti-Doping Center (NADC) and other international anti-doping organizations to Ukrainian athletes. The need to establish effective legal mechanisms to protect the rights and interests of athletes in their interactions with anti-doping organizations was also emphasized.
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with Anna Ryzhykova, not only as an athlete but also as a respected representative of the Ukrainian and international sports movement. The position of Anti-Doping Ombudsman is not only a new phenomenon in the national sports system but also a wonderful opportunity to enhance the relationship between the NADC and athletes, as well as national sports federations. This is a collaborative effort that, in my opinion, will be successful and beneficial both for the specific athletes who need assistance and support and for Ukrainian sports as a whole," noted NADC Director Serhiy Popyk.
"I am excited to serve as the Anti-Doping Ombudsman because, as an athlete, I fully understand the importance and significance of clean sport. I am also ready to help my fellow athletes who need support, advice, or protection. Together with the NADC, we are embarking on this journey because we love and promote sport, but clean sport — a sport free from doping," emphasized Anna Ryzhykova at the conclusion of the meeting at the NADC.
Together we work – together we win fairly !
