NADC CONDUCTED A STUDY ON THE ANTI-DOPING EDUCATION NEEDS OF THE SPORTS COMMUNITY

27 February 2026

During January–February 2026, the National Anti-Doping Center (NADC), in collaboration with the public organization “Compete Fairly” and scientific experts, conducted a sociological survey focused on the dissemination of anti-doping knowledge and the values of clean sport.

The study involved 282 respondents selected according to a sociological sampling methodology, including athletes, coaches, medical professionals, and sports managers.

The aim of the study was to identify priority topics for anti-doping education, optimal formats for presenting educational materials, and effective communication channels with the sports community.

Priority Topics for Educational Materials
Analysis of the survey responses identified the key topics of greatest interest:

  • Checking medications for prohibited substances
  • Risks associated with the use of dietary supplements
  • Real cases of anti-doping rule violations
  • Fundamentals of anti-doping rules and responsibilities
  • Anti-doping control procedures

The data indicate a strong demand for practically oriented information necessary to prevent inadvertent anti-doping rule violations.

Segmentation of Educational Content
Most participants supported the need to create separate informational materials for different target groups—athletes, coaches, and medical personnel—confirming the value of a differentiated approach to anti-doping education.

Information Distribution Channels
The most effective platforms for receiving video materials, according to respondents, were:

  • YouTube
  • Telegram
  • Instagram

Demand for a Substance-Checking Service
A notable finding of the study was the expressed demand for a convenient digital tool to check medications and dietary supplements—similar to the international Global DRO system. Although the study focused on video materials, this need for a practical checking service was among the most frequently mentioned expectations.

“We sincerely thank our partners — the public organization ‘Compete Fairly’, the research lead Iryna Hruzhevych (Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University), analytics expert Vitalii Shpylchyn (Kyiv-Mohyla Academy), and all survey participants for their contribution to advancing anti-doping education. The results allow us to better understand the needs of the sports community and enhance the effectiveness of anti-doping prevention,” said NADC Director Sergii Popyk following the completion of the study.

The National Anti-Doping Center will use the study results to further improve its educational activities and to develop modern tools supporting clean sport in Ukraine.

Working together, winning clean!
