NADC Holds Meeting with Italian Colleagues on the Independence of Anti-Doping Organizations and International Cooperation
Today, representatives of the National Anti-Doping Center of Ukraine (NADC) held a bilateral meeting with colleagues from the Italian National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO Italia). The discussions focused on the operational and institutional independence of anti-doping organizations, as well as strengthening cooperation with international partners, including the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
The participants exchanged experiences and best practices regarding the establishment and operation of anti-doping hearing panels (the Disciplinary and Appeals Panels), the composition and role of supervisory boards, and the mechanisms for establishing committees responsible for selecting and appointing members of hearing panels in accordance with the requirements of the 2027 World Anti-Doping Code. Particular attention was given to the challenges of ensuring the genuine independence of anti-doping bodies from sports organizations.
The meeting also addressed the current state of cooperation with WADA, the implementation of the World Anti-Doping Code, the development of anti-doping education, and opportunities for future joint projects within the international anti-doping community.
A representative of the Anti-Doping Laboratory in Rome also delivered a presentation on the laboratory's technical capabilities, state-of-the-art equipment, testing procedures, and its role in supporting clean sport at both the national and international levels.
NADC Director Valerii Zlomynoha emphasized that safeguarding the independence of National Anti-Doping Organizations is one of the key factors in maintaining confidence in the global anti-doping system.
"Today, international cooperation is not only about exchanging experience but also about sharing responsibility for building an effective, independent, and transparent anti-doping system. For Ukraine, the opportunity to openly discuss practical approaches to implementing the World Anti-Doping Code, learn from the successful experience of our colleagues, and at the same time share our own expertise is of great value. Only through continuous professional dialogue can we strengthen the confidence of the sporting community in the anti-doping system and ensure a level playing field for fair competition," said Valerii Zlomynoha.
The meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere, enabling participants to gain a deeper understanding of each other's approaches, exchange expertise, and identify areas for future cooperation. Such meetings contribute to strengthening the international anti-doping community, fostering partnerships, and promoting the implementation of global best practices to protect the principles of clean sport.
