WADA Enhances the Content and Formats of Anti-Doping Activities

18 March 2026

On March 17, 2026, Ukraine’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Matvii Bidnyi, took part in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), where he has been representing European countries since 2025.

On the eve of the meeting, the Minister chaired the “OneVoice” government coordination platform, which shapes a common position of states within the global anti-doping system.

During the meeting, key issues related to the development of anti-doping activities were discussed. In particular, the focus was on:
– improving procedures for the admission of new signatories to the World Anti-Doping Code;
– development of the ADAMS information system;
– updating approaches to the exchange of official and confidential information;
– compliance of anti-doping organizations with established requirements.

Special attention was paid to the financial obligations of governments to WADA. Ukraine reaffirmed its consistent position on fulfilling these commitments, even under the conditions of a full-scale war.

Possible changes to document exchange practices were also discussed, emphasizing the need to maintain a balance between confidentiality and the effective participation of governments in WADA’s work.

In the context of expanding WADA’s investigative powers, the importance of combating the illegal trafficking of prohibited substances was highlighted, taking into account national legal frameworks.

Following the meeting, a number of decisions were adopted aimed at further developing the global anti-doping system, particularly in the areas of scientific research, education, and compliance with the Code.

Ukraine’s participation in the WADA Executive Committee and the “OneVoice” platform strengthens international cooperation and contributes to forming a coordinated governmental position in the fight against doping.

“NADC is ready to implement these decisions. We have the necessary expertise and highly qualified personnel. Therefore, NADC’s work will serve as a contribution to strengthening the global anti-doping system,” said NADC Director Sergii Popyk following the WADA Executive Committee meeting.
