The National Anti-Doping Center  is launching a new section, “NADC Statistics,” which will present aggregated statistical data related to the Center’s anti-doping activities.

The first topic focuses on the most common categories of prohibited substances detected in doping samples from Ukrainian athletes. The infographic illustrates the distribution by categories of the WADA Prohibited List, provides examples of substances, and outlines the general consequences of their use without therapeutic necessity.

Most frequently detected in samples are:

• anabolic steroids — used to increase strength and muscle mass;

• diuretics and masking agents — used for rapid weight loss or to conceal other prohibited substances;

• metabolic modulators and hormonal substances — used to artificially enhance endurance, speed up recovery, or mitigate the effects of doping use.

The use of such substances not only violates anti-doping rules but also poses serious health risks — from hormonal disorders and cardiovascular damage to irreversible changes in the body and life-threatening conditions. In addition to medical consequences, doping leads to disqualifications, loss of reputation, and the end of a sporting career.

The NADC calls on athletes to make a conscious choice in favor of clean sport, based on fair competition, knowledge, and responsibility for one’s own health.
