On July 18, 2024, the Ivan Piddubny Olympic College Hosted a Ceremonial Event to Celebrate National Anti-Doping Center Day

18 July 2024

The event gathered numerous guests, including leaders from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, members of the Ukrainian Parliament, heads of leading national sports federations, famous athletes, and the teachers and students of the Olympic College.

The choice of venue was not accidental. The Olympic College is the cradle of past, present, and future champions and specialists in the field of sports. They should receive information and knowledge about anti-doping activities early in their careers. This approach will help young athletes understand the importance of clean sport and take responsibility for their own achievements.

The celebration of NADC Day at the Olympic College is not just a ceremonial event but a strong message to the younger generation that doping and sports are incompatible. The event program included informational and educational presentations about the functioning of the anti-doping system and doping control procedures.

Welcoming NADC and event participants, Matviy Bidny, Acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, emphasized the significance and role of the National Anti-Doping Center in the development of clean sport in Ukraine, acknowledging the work of the center's employees and everyone who contributes to anti-doping activities in the country.

"The fight against doping is a crucial element of sports policy in our country. Compliance with anti-doping rules determines the recognition of sports on the international stage. We must ensure fair competition in sports and protect the health of our athletes," Bidny emphasized.

The event also featured Andriy Chesnokov, Head of the NADC Supervisory Board and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, who highlighted the importance of new national legislation in developing Ukraine's anti-doping infrastructure and expressed support for the initiative of establishing NADC Day:

"The Ministry of Youth and Sports actively supports the NADC motto — 'Compete Fairly!' — and actively promotes the principles of clean sport in its activities."

Vadym Guttsait, President of the NOC of Ukraine, focused on the importance of anti-doping efforts in the country and the effectiveness of the NADC's practical activities.

"The NOC has zero tolerance for doping. We stand for clean sport and fully support the initiatives and activities of the National Anti-Doping Center," Guttsait noted.

Participants were also greeted by Olga Saladukha, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Head of the Subcommittee on High-Performance Sports and Sports Activities, Acting President of the Ukrainian Athletics Federation, and Eduard Proshchuk, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament, Head of the Inter-Factional Parliamentary Association "National Sports Platform," and First Vice President of the Ukrainian Wrestling Association.

For achievements in anti-doping work, departmental awards from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine, and NADC were presented to center employees, doping control officers, individual members of the Disciplinary and Appeals Anti-Doping Commissions, and the head of the NADC Therapeutic Use Committee.

To promote clean sport, NADC introduced thematic nominations: "Contribution to Anti-Doping Education," "Contribution to Anti-Doping Interaction," and "ODC Record Holder." The Ukrainian Athletics Federation was recognized as the winner in the "Contribution to Anti-Doping Education" nomination, the Ukrainian Wrestling Association as the winner in the "Contribution to Anti-Doping Interaction" nomination, and doping officer Andriy Gomeniuk won the "ODC Record Holder" nomination.

Presenting the awards to the winners, NADC Director Serhiy Popyk thanked them for their contribution to promoting doping-free sport.

"We believe that clean sport is the foundation of fair competitions and a healthy future for our athletes. That is why we strive to develop NADC, professionally train our staff, and establish interaction with everyone who develops Ukrainian sports and takes care of the national sports infrastructure. NADC Day is a professional holiday for all those involved in anti-doping activities in our country and in the fight for clean sport," said Popyk.

The synergy of clean sport is the key to success!
