The global anti-doping system will be strengthened: results of the WADA Executive Committee meeting in Prague

12 September 2025

On September 11, 2025, the Executive Committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) held a meeting in Prague, which was attended by Ukraine’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Matviy Bidnyi, as the European representative.

Members of the Executive Committee discussed strategic issues for the development of the global anti-doping system, including WADA’s funding, the update of international standards, and ensuring the independence of national anti-doping organizations.

“We must find balanced solutions that both strengthen the institutional capacity of anti-doping organizations and enhance their cooperation with WADA. This will allow us to develop a system that serves the ultimate goal — protecting clean sport,” emphasized Matviy Bidnyi.

“For the National Anti-Doping Center, it is extremely important to continuously improve Ukraine’s anti-doping system and implement the best international practices. Cooperation with WADA and other national organizations allows us to make processes more transparent and effective, and, most importantly, to protect our athletes and strengthen trust in clean sport,” said Sergiy Popyk, Director of the NADC, who also participated in the Prague meeting.

On the sidelines of the WADA Executive Committee meeting, S. Popyk held bilateral meetings with WADA President Witold Bańka and heads of the Agency’s departments participating in the meeting, as well as with Martin Čížek, Director of the Czech Anti-Doping Agency.
