Anti-Doping Education and Research – Global Priorities for Clean Sport
On October 22, the 10th Session of the Conference of Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport concluded its work in Paris.
“The meetings and discussions held within this international forum reaffirmed that the fight against doping in sport remains a top priority both nationally and globally. Ukraine has not only developed and effectively implemented its own national anti-doping program but is also actively contributing to shaping the international anti-doping agenda. Ukraine co-authored several key outcome documents of the Tenth Conference of Parties, including resolutions on reforming the Convention and strengthening education and research in anti-doping efforts,” noted Sergii Popyk, Director of the National Anti-Doping Center (NADC), who participated in the sessions.
Ahead of the Conference, NADC launched the project “Ambassadors for Clean Sport: We Fight Doping Together”, supported and approved by UNESCO.
“This project is one of the elements in our ongoing efforts to promote the values of clean sport and advance anti-doping educational and awareness initiatives. At the same time, it represents a tangible contribution by NADC to strengthening Ukraine–UNESCO cooperation in the anti-doping sphere,” emphasized Mr. Popyk.
Addressing participants in Paris, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Viktoriia Riasna, also highlighted the significant role of NADC in fulfilling the commitments under UNESCO’s International Convention against Doping in Sport.
“Thanks to the political will of the Government of Ukraine and the support of international partners, the effective, independent, and transparent structure — the National Anti-Doping Center of Ukraine — ensures compliance with international clean sport standards,” Ms. Riasna stated.
Recognizing the importance of Ukraine’s international commitments in the clean sport domain, the National Anti-Doping Center, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, will soon initiate the development of a National Anti-Doping Strategy— a comprehensive framework outlining the country’s priority goals and key tasks in the fight against doping in sport.
Systematic work for a clean sport — together we make it happen!
