When an Athlete Chooses the Wrong Path: NADC Internal Training
On January 8, an internal training session for NADC staff took place at the National Anti-Doping Center, focusing on the results management process in cases of potential anti-doping rule violations. The training was conducted by Kateryna Koval, Head of the Legal Support Department.
During the session, participants reviewed how the NADC carries out results management — from initial procedures to decision-making within anti-doping proceedings. Particular attention was paid to legal aspects, as well as compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code, International Standards, and national anti-doping rules.
The training covered the key stages of the process, principles of protecting athletes’ rights, adherence to procedural timelines, proper documentation, and effective internal communication. Practical aspects of cooperation between the NADC, sports federations, and other stakeholders were also discussed, highlighting the importance of a consistent and fair approach to the application of anti-doping regulations.
Sergii Popyk, Director of the National Anti-Doping Center, emphasized:
“Strict adherence to results management procedures is the foundation of trust in the anti-doping system. It is the systematic and professional work of the NADC that ensures fair decisions and the protection of athletes’ rights.”
Such internal training sessions are an integral part of the NADC’s work and contribute to strengthening institutional capacity, as well as ensuring effective, consistent, and transparent implementation of anti-doping policy in Ukraine.
Clean sport begins with responsible decisions.
And is upheld by clear procedures.
