Shaping the Future of Sport: Updating the Sectoral Strategy through 2028 Discussed in Kyiv
On June 2, a strategic session on assessing the institutional capacity of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine was held in Kyiv as part of the process of updating the Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport through 2028.
Valerii Zlomynoha, Head of the National Anti-Doping Center, participated in the event. The session brought together representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, public institutions, and other stakeholders to jointly develop strategic solutions aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of the sports sector.
During the session, participants discussed key challenges and needs in the field of physical culture and sport, identified strategic objectives, performance indicators, and priorities for future development. Particular attention was given to a people-centred approach to public policy development and the implementation of modern strategic planning practices.
Opening the event, First Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Serhii Popyk emphasized: "Updating the Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport provides an opportunity to lay the foundation for an effective and sustainable system that responds to contemporary challenges and the needs of the sports community. It is important that this process takes place through open dialogue and with the involvement of all key stakeholders."
Valerii Zlomynoha, Head of the National Anti-Doping Center, highlighted the importance of involving the anti-doping community in shaping the sector’s strategic documents: "Clean sport is an integral part of the sustainable development of the sports sector. Incorporating the principles of integrity, transparency, and the protection of athletes’ rights into strategic documents will help strengthen trust in Ukrainian sport both nationally and internationally."
The strategic session resulted in the development of proposals for the updated Strategy for the Development of Physical Culture and Sport, particularly regarding institutional capacity and a system of performance indicators to measure its effectiveness.
