The NADC Joins WADA Initiatives and Events to Expand and Deepen Anti-Doping Education

01 March 2024

From February 27th to 29th, in Cannes (France), the World Anti-Doping Agency, in collaboration with the French Anti-Doping Agency, held the International Education Conference dedicated to significant issues in anti-doping education, particularly focusing on measures to prevent doping use, especially in the early stages of athletic careers.

The aim of the WADA Global Education Conference 2024 was to unite efforts of the global anti-doping community to develop effective educational programs and discuss new trends in anti-doping activities. Representatives from the NADC actively participated in joint discussions and debates regarding ensuring access to quality anti-doping education for athletes of all ages and levels.

The conference served as a crucial forum for exchanging experiences and best practices in anti-doping education, as well as for acquiring new knowledge and ideas for protecting the integrity of sport. The participation of the NADC in this event underscores Ukraine's commitment to combating doping in sports and developing an effective system of anti-doping education to promote fair and ethical sports competitions.

As a result of the conference, WADA issued a statement of intent to make anti-doping education mandatory for minors, including through amendments to the International Standard for Education (ISE), which governs signatories of the World Anti-Doping Code. Such an initiative should also encourage governments worldwide to make corresponding changes to their respective national policies or legislation.

"The NADC supports initiatives aimed at ensuring access to quality anti-doping education for all athletes, regardless of their age and level of sports activity. We are confident that making anti-doping education mandatory for minors will be an important step towards creating a clean and ethical sports environment. The NADC is ready to actively cooperate with international partners to implement this initiative and ensure its successful implementation in Ukraine. Through joint efforts and support for anti-doping education, we aim to create favorable conditions for the development of fair sport and the protection of athletes' health and rights," emphasized NADC Director Sergii Popyk.
