Ukraine Adopts Slovenian Experience in Anti-Doping Education Initiatives
On December 11, the National Anti-Doping Centre of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Slovenian Anti-Doping Organization (SLOADO), conducted an online training session for representatives of national sports federations. The focus was on organizing educational and informational activities related to anti-doping topics across various sports.
Dr. Nina Makuc, SLOADO Education Coordinator and a member of the WADA Anti-Doping Education Commission, shared insights from Slovenia’s experience in implementing anti-doping educational programs and informed participants about the best international practices for integrating anti-doping knowledge into the sports environment.
This training is particularly significant for NADC and national federations, as it aims not only to improve anti-doping educational efforts but also to foster effective collaboration in the field of anti-doping work.
The training program covered the following key topics:
- Training anti-doping education instructors
- Integrating educational activities into the activities of national federations
- International experience in organizing educational campaigns
During the training, participants discussed key principles of anti-doping education for athletes and all stakeholders involved in sports.
There was also a focus on the importance of implementing mandatory athlete education through the WADA ADEL e-learning platform. This platform has already proven successful in Slovenia and other leading sports nations.
"Anti-doping education is not just about clean sport; it’s about building values that help athletes stay honest in competition and life," said Dr. Nina Makuc while presenting the Slovenian experience and current WADA educational practices.
Anti-doping education is the foundation of clean sport.
