United for Clean Sport: Strategic Meeting of NADC and National Sports Federations
On April 7, 2025, the National Anti-Doping Center held a strategic meeting with the leadership of Ukraine’s national sports associations and federations. The event took place at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine. The meeting was attended by Matvii Bidnyi, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and Executive Committee Member of WADA, and Andrii Chesnokov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the National Anti-Doping Center.
During the meeting, the following topics were presented:
- Updated requirements of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regarding the organization and implementation of doping control;
- Key activity areas of NADC for 2025;
- A new format of cooperation between NADC and sports federations;
- Requirements for the development and implementation of anti-doping programs by national federations in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 1516 dated December 27, 2024.
Minister Matvii Bidnyi emphasized in his speech: "Anti-doping efforts are not merely the responsibility of NADC, the Ministry, or any other single body. They are part of the state’s international obligations, governed by clear rules and procedures. By the end of this year, all national federations must develop, coordinate with NADC, and approve their own anti-doping programs as required by the government. But approval alone is not enough — these programs must be effectively implemented in daily practice."
"The goal of this strategically important event, initiated by the National Anti-Doping Center, was to strengthen our partnership in the name of clean sport. We are proposing a new quality of interaction with national sports federations. An anti-doping program is not just a formality — it is a real tool for safeguarding the integrity of sport. In 2025, we are ready to provide methodological support in program development, conduct training, and ensure transparency in all anti-doping procedures," emphasized NADC Director Serhii Popyk.
The meeting also addressed key aspects of anti-doping education, therapeutic use exemptions, the need for reporting on implemented measures, and the challenges federations face while fulfilling anti-doping obligations under wartime conditions.
The National Anti-Doping Center extends its gratitude to all participants for their constructive involvement and shared commitment to promoting clean sport in Ukraine.
